Last week, Lunenburg School students marked Earth Day in a truly imaginative and inspiring way with their annual Trashion and Innovention Show—a beloved tradition that brings creativity, sustainability, and innovation together under one roof.

The event challenges students to think differently about everyday waste by transforming recycled and discarded materials into something entirely new. For the “Trashion” portion of the show, students designed and modeled unique, wearable creations using a variety of repurposed materials. Each piece highlighted not only artistic expression but also a powerful message about reducing waste and rethinking how everyday items can be reused.

Equally impressive was the “Innovention” side of the event, where students showcased original inventions built from recycled materials. Through creativity and problem-solving, students explored new ways to give discarded items a second life, demonstrating thoughtful design and innovative thinking.



The Trashion and Innovention Show is more than just a fun Earth Day activity—it’s a hands-on learning experience that encourages environmental awareness, critical thinking, and innovation. Students gain a deeper understanding of sustainability while discovering how small actions, like reusing materials, can make a meaningful impact.

Families, staff, and community members who attended were treated to a showcase of ingenuity and enthusiasm, leaving many inspired by the students’ ability to turn “trash” into something truly remarkable.

Lunenburg School is proud of its students for embracing Earth Day with such creativity and purpose, and for reminding us all that innovation can start with something as simple as what we choose to throw away.
