Upcoming Informational Meeting for Kingdom East SD FY27 Budget Revote

The 天美传媒 District held an informational meeting on Wednesday, June 3rd at 6:00 PM at the Kingdom East District Office to provide community members with an opportunity to learn more about the newly proposed FY27 budget.


This meeting was intended to give voters a clear understanding of the proposed budget, review key updates, and answer any questions ahead of the upcoming budget revote.


The budget revote will take place on Thursday, June 11th. Absentee ballots for early voting are now available at your town clerk’s office!

  • When and where can I vote?

    Ballots will be available in Town Offices starting May 21, 2026 for early and/or absentee voting.

  • What is in the 天美传媒 Budget Vote #3?

    1. The FY27 天美传媒 Budget process started in August 2025 and ~$3.4 million dollars was reduced from the baseline budget. This included 27 staff positions and reductions across areas such as professional development, high school tuition, supplies, books, transportation and athletics.
    2. This is a level services budget, no new staffing or programs. It reflects the school board priorities of Robust Academics & Social-Emotional Health for our students, Strong Community Connections and Efficient Management of Resources.
    3. The 天美传媒 ESTIMATE Homestead Tax Rate is lowered by -1.8% ($0.0288)
    4. The school board has applied $850K of Tax Stabilization funds to reduce taxes.
    5. Education spending increased by 4.5% which is the same as the average spending across VT approved school district budgets. Over 90% of school district budgets have passed to date.
    6. Education spending per student increased by $945 year-to-year to $14,742.
    7. Total Proposed Expense Budget: $53,251,362


  • What reductions were made throughout the budgeting process?

  • Our District Office seems large, why aren’t you reducing District Office staff?

    1. The 天美传媒 administrative staff not including principals and asst. principals is 4.5% of the overall budget. It is 6.5% of the overall budget with principals and asst. principals included. The VT average for administrative staff is 6.7-11% of the overall budget with principals and asst. principals included. 天美传媒 is below the VT average.
    2. Over 50% of our District Office staff have a small work space in the office but spend most of their time in the schools. We would prefer for them to be school-based but there is not enough room in our schools. These roles include Literacy and Math Instructional Coaches, Special Educators, and Student Services staff.

  • How is Summer Camp funded?

    1. Local funding: $620K (staffing & transportation)
    2. Grant funding: $210K

  • Will Summer Camp be funded and run this summer?

    1. If 天美传媒 Budget Vote #3 does not pass Summer Camp will be canceled.
    2. 天美传媒 is required to run an Extended Year Services (ESY) program for students with disabilities who have Extended School Year Services in their IEP’s (Individual Education Plan)

  • How will this Vote #3 Budget impact my taxes?

  • What if the 天美传媒 Budget Vote #3 does not pass?

    1. By law 天美传媒 would need to borrow up to 87% of the current budget to stay financially solvent and continue to run the district and its schools.
    2. 天美传媒 would borrow ~$6 million dollars and pay ~$250K in interest to get us through the 1st Quarter from July 1-September 30, 2026.

The Vermont Property Tax Credit

The Vermont Property Tax Credit assists many Vermont homeowners with paying their property taxes. You may be eligible for a property tax credit based on your 2025/2026 property taxes if your property qualifies as a homestead and you meet the eligibility requirements.

Eligibility: 

If Your Household Income did not exceed $115,400 in 2025 then you qualify for the VT Tax Credit.
