Every year, the College of Education and Social Services (CESS) at the University of Vermont, together with Vermont supervisory unions and school districts, the Vermont Agency of Education, and the Vermont NEA, join to honor the accomplishments of our state’s outstanding educators.

On Tuesday, November 14th the 43rd Annual Outstanding Educator Awards event was held at UVM's Dudley H. Davis Center Grand Maple Ballroom. We are pleased to announce that this year, not one, but TWO Kingdom East staff members were recognized for this award. ï»¿

Nominee: Sue Galipeault,

LTS Literacy Teacher (Grades 7-8)

For 18 years Ms. Galipeault has inspired and challenged the children of Lyndon Town School, most recently as a middle school literacy teacher. She takes every child’s unique learning characteristics and helps them expand their curiosity and personal strengths, helping them to grow as readers, writers, and unique individuals. She can be found coming alongside struggling and excelling learners, responding to and engaging with every child. Ms. Galipeault helps students believe in themselves and become confident learners through her patient support and encouragement.

Ms. Galipeault brings her love of people -adults as well as children, to work every day. She demonstrates her compassion for others, providing exuberance, guidance, and a helping hand in many ways. She takes new teachers under her wing, and is a listening ear to veteran teachers as well. Ms. Galipeault provides inspiring leadership to our middle school by volunteering ideas and time to build a strong, resilient, fun community culture. Our town, school district and community are proud to have Ms. Galipeault’s talent, expertise, and commitment! ï»¿

Nominee: Heather Skrabely,

Kingdom East School District  STEAM Coach

As both a distinguished Middle School Science teacher at the Burke Town School and currently as a district STEAM coach Ms. Skrabely has inspired teachers and students, providing highly sought after support in STEAM instruction. She has reignited a passion within our district for teaching science through integrated learning experiences that lead to deeper inquiry. She takes every child’s unique learning characteristics into consideration and helps them dive into their curiosity and personal strengths. She engages with every child. Students are unable to contain themselves with the excitement of the concepts they are exploring. Ms. Skrabely also provides leadership throughout the district by facilitating lead learner committees, providing professional learning opportunities, and providing resources for effective instruction. Our town, school, district and community at large are truly fortunate to have Ms. Skrabely’s quality and commitment!
