December 7, 2020

On Sunday we learned about a COVID positive case within our community. Although there is a positive case, there were a small number of close contacts in our Concord community.

Because we separate classes by cohorts within Concord School, sub-groups are isolated within our in-person school community. This allows groups to be separate throughout the day and not be in contact with other cohorts.

We have worked with the health department to identify a small number of individuals that are determined to be “close contacts” with the COVID positive individual. Close contacts are required to quarantine and/or be tested within strict timelines from the time of last contact. Because we have pivoted to remote, we do not need to change our mode of learning.

Our school nurse, Ms. Barandee Peterson, has reached out to all the individuals who were close contacts. We have completed what is called “contact tracing” where we notify all individuals who should quarantine.  This step in our process has been completed, so if you have not been called you are not considered a close contact.

We recommend everyone take action to help limit the spread of COVID-19, even if your child is not experiencing symptoms.

The most important things you can do:

  • Make sure your child is wearing.
  • Make sure your child is.
  • Keep your child home if they are sick.
  • Call your primary care provider if you or your child have symptoms.

Thank you for understanding that, due to privacy laws, we are not able to release the names of the individuals with COVID-19 or the individuals quarantining. Please do not speculate, ask, or post on social media the speculation around individuals; it is important to respect privacy. We are all part of a close community. We will continue to communicate changes and updates with you as necessary.

Continue to take good care of yourselves and each other. Please reach out to Barandee Peterson (bpeterson@kingdomeast.org), Soph Hall (shall@kingdomeast.org), Jennifer Botzojorns (jbotzojorns@kingdomeast.org) or me directly (sgregory@kingdomeast.org) if you have any questions.

With respect and appreciation for being partners together in this challenging journey.

Sincerely yours,

Sherri Gregory, Principal, Concord School

Jennifer Botzojorns, Superintendent of Schools
